Zingiber officinale Roscoe , commonly known as ginger, is a plant species and is of Asian origin. Ginger has been used in many cultures throughout history. Ancient China used ginger as a medicine, and the ancient Romans reported that ginger reached them through the Spice Trade. Ginger became popular in Europe during the Middle Ages and then spread to the Americas with the discovery of Colombia.
Ginger oil has a pungent, spicy, burning, and orange/amber smell. Its smell is intense and characteristic, similar to the root of the ginger plant. This oil is considered by many to be a pleasant smell and is widely used in aromatherapy. Its fragrance reflects the spicy, refreshing, and invigorating effects of ginger.
USES & BENEFITS
Ginger Essential Oil can be used as a natural solution to many health problems. Especially in aromatherapy applications, it is used effectively against many health problems such as stress and anxiety, respiratory tract problems, blood circulation, stomach health, pain, and inflammation.
This oil, when used through a diffuser or steam bath, provides relief by calming the nerves. It can also be used by massaging the skin by mixing it with a carrier oil. However, since ginger oil is a concentrated essential oil, it should not be used directly on the skin.
Ginger oil can be used alone, as it can be used in combination with other essential oils. Nevertheless, those who have any health problems or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult a health professional before using ginger oil.
